The Buddy Walk was developed by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to promote acceptance and awareness of people with Down syndrome. We encourage people with Down syndrome to invite "buddies," everyone from family and friends to teachers, celebrities, and legislators, to join them on the Buddy Walk. Each participation helps promote the importance of understanding, awareness, and acceptance. Whether you have Down syndrome, know someone who does, or just want to show your support, come and join us as a buddy at one of the UDSF Buddy Walks!

Buddy Walk Teams!
What is a Team?
A team is a group of 5 or more people who want to join in the fun and support a person with Down syndrome. Organize your friends, neighbors, coworkers, and family and recruit everyone you know. Choose a name for your team and make a creative nametag for each team member. If you want, create a team cheer to present at the Buddy Walk. Teams can register on the Buddy Walk Team Member Sign Up Sheet or on the Registration Form (please put Team Name on Form).
Team Fundraising
We encourage the team to raise money for the Buddy Walk. Fundraise as a team to collect donations from people you know or from businesses. In addition to the fun your team will have working together to increase awareness of others about individuals with Down syndrome your team could win a prize if you raise the most money!
Last year we had fun with our teams and we would like to encourage more families to participate. It is fun for our children to see all their friends there for them.
